Palm Coast Little League – Kiwanis Investing in Our Children’s Future

The launch of the first season of Palm Coast Little League (PALS) marked a meaningful and exciting milestone for our community. Registration opened to youth ages 5 to 16, creating opportunities for children of all backgrounds to participate in organized sports, build friendships, and develop essential life skills.

The opening ceremony was a joyful and well-attended event, bringing together community leaders and families in celebration. Among those present were Marion “Al” Jennings, Janet McDonald, Mrs. Polly, and Dr. Conkling, whose presence reflected the strong support behind this initiative.

The Kiwanis Club of Flagler Palm Coast proudly sponsored one of the teams with a $3,000.00 contribution. This sponsorship represented far more than financial support-it was a direct investment in the lives of young athletes, helping provide uniforms, equipment, and the opportunity for children to participate regardless of their financial circumstances.

Janet McDonald, a Kiwanis member and Flagler School Board representative, along with Jon Netts, participated in the traditional “first pitch,” officially opening the season. They also addressed the crowd, sharing encouraging words about the importance of community involvement and Kiwanis’ ongoing mission to serve and uplift children.

The Kiwanis Club was warmly welcomed, and the opening day festivities were filled with excitement, pride, and a strong sense of unity.

Impact on Children and Families

Programs like Palm Coast Little League go far beyond the game itself. For many children, especially those from families facing financial challenges, this opportunity provides access to structured activities that promote growth, confidence, and belonging.

Through participation in Little League, children learn:

  • Teamwork and cooperation – working together toward a common goal
  • Discipline and responsibility – showing up, practicing, and giving their best effort
  • Confidence and self-esteem – believing in their abilities and celebrating achievements
  • Respect and sportsmanship – learning how to win with humility and lose with grace

In addition, these programs create a safe and positive environment where children can stay active, build healthy habits, and develop meaningful relationships with peers and mentors.

For families, it offers a place of connection-where parents, volunteers, and community leaders come together to support the next generation. It strengthens the bonds within the community and reminds us that when we invest in our children, we are investing in a stronger, healthier future for all.

This first season of Palm Coast Little League was not just the beginning of a sports program- it was the beginning of lasting memories, personal growth, and a brighter path forward for many young lives.
