Kiwanis Hot Dog Fundraiser – Serving the Community with Purpose
Flagler Home & Lifestyle Show | January 24–25, 2015
The Flagler Home & Lifestyle Show, held at Flagler Palm Coast High School, marked its 29th annual celebration, bringing together local businesses, organizations, and families for a meaningful community event. The Kiwanis Club of Flagler Palm Coast proudly participated as one of the first civic organizations to support this long-standing tradition.
Organized by Flagler Technical Institute and Flagler County Schools Adult and Community Education, the event serves a greater purpose beyond community engagement. Proceeds from the Home Show help fund scholarships, educational programs, and summer camp opportunities for disadvantaged youth—making a lasting impact on the lives of many children in our community.
As part of this initiative, the Kiwanis Club hosted its popular Hot Dog Fundraiser, which proved to be a great success. Total sales exceeded $1,446, reflecting both strong community support and the dedication of the volunteers involved.
The fundraiser was led by Dr. Maria Barbosa, who served as Chairperson, alongside Co-Chair Ed Pruitt. Their leadership, organization, and commitment were instrumental in making the event run smoothly and successfully.
This project would not have been possible without the generous support of many Kiwanis members who volunteered their time and energy, including: Ann Babcock, Bill Klinkenberg, David Rogers, Denise Calderwood, Dr. Conkling, Ed Rainer, Ginette Consentino, Frank Consentino, Jack Barbosa, Joel Rosen, Kadie Rogers, Dr. Leila Hardison, Linda Milligan, Mike McElroy, Mike Burch, and Mrs. Polly Conkling.
In addition, members of the Flagler Palm Coast High School Key Club played an important role in supporting the fundraiser. President Garrett Monroe was especially helpful, bringing fellow Key Club members to assist and contribute to the success of the event.
This fundraiser was more than just a food sale-it was a demonstration of service, teamwork, and compassion. Every hot dog sold represented support for a child’s future, helping provide access to education, enrichment programs, and opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
Through leadership, volunteerism, and a heart for service, Kiwanis continues to make a meaningful difference in the community-one project at a time.
Thank you to our sponsors, donors, and all who attended. Your support makes our work possible.
