After many visits to Broadway productions, I have always been impressed by the exceptional quality of the singing, dancing and acting. Last weekend, I was delighted to discover that same spirit of theatrical excellence close to home at Flagler Playhouse in Palm Coast.
A talented local company presented “Nunsense,” the musical comedy about five nuns who organize a fundraising show. The theater’s choice was no accident: “Nunsense” became a major New York success and is recognized as one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows in history.
The cast brought the comedy to life with beautiful voices, energetic dancing and engaging performances that held the audience’s attention throughout the show. Their timing, warmth and enthusiasm made for an entertaining evening and demonstrated the depth of talent in our community.
The production opened Flagler Playhouse’s 2026–2027 season. Company President Jody Berry and the small but dedicated organization succeeded in bringing people together through laughter, dance, music and a shared experience. Director Larry Schnabel led a strong creative team that included music director James Olivier, choreographer Laura Breese and stage manager Laura Dormadi, among many others who helped make the production possible.
As a Kiwanis member, I also thank the club for supporting the production as one of its sponsors. Congratulations to the talented cast and dedicated production team. I wish Flagler Playhouse continued success as it begins its new season with this beloved musical comedy.
