The Great Minds Summer Camp held its 2026 Graduation and Recognition Ceremony on July 15, 2026, celebrating the accomplishments of students who successfully completed this outstanding summer educational program.
The Great Minds Summer Camp is a community-based educational initiative in Flagler County, Florida, designed to help elementary school students maintain and strengthen their academic skills during the summer months. The program is hosted at the G.W. Carver Community Center in Bunnell and is led by the Flagler County Education Foundation in partnership with Flagler Schools and numerous community organizations.
Program Goals
The Great Minds Summer Camp is dedicated to helping children continue learning during the summer while providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. Its primary goals include:
- Preventing the “summer learning loss” that many students experience while school is out.
- Strengthening reading comprehension and literacy skills.
- Reinforcing mathematics and science concepts aligned with Florida academic standards.
- Encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Providing a structured, enriching, and positive learning environment throughout the summer.
Who Participates?
The program primarily serves:
- Students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
- Children from the Bunnell community and surrounding areas.
- Students who benefit from additional academic support and enrichment opportunities during the summer break.
Community Support
The Great Minds Summer Camp reflects Flagler County’s commitment to educational excellence and equal learning opportunities for every child. The program brings together educators, volunteers, schools, businesses, and community organizations that share a common goal of helping students succeed.
The Kiwanis Flagler/Palm Coast Foundation & club members are proud to support this important initiative through a financial donation that helps make the program possible.
Several Kiwanis members attended the graduation ceremony to celebrate the students’ achievements, including Kiwanis President Ed Pruitt, Incoming Foundation Treasurer Jerry Berry, and other dedicated Kiwanis members.
In addition to attending the graduation ceremony, Kiwanis President Ed Pruitt generously volunteered his time by helping serve lunch to the graduates, demonstrating the Kiwanis commitment to serving the community and supporting local youth. His hands-on involvement reflected the spirit of volunteerism that makes programs like the Great Minds Summer Camp so successful.
